What is The Primal Effect?

Sadly, through our modern ways of fast food and social media living, we’re quickly entering into a chronic state of distraction, despair and disease. We’re plagued with illness, both mental and physical, and it’s only getting worse.

So does this mean that we, the greatest species in existence, are now set firmly on a collision course for unavoidable sickness and depression? No. That’s not our fate. We’re simply victims of our proclivity for comfort, convenience and instant gratification.

Our wellness is within our grasp, and it’s in how we choose to live each day. So choose to take back control of your body, mind and spirit. Choose to break the habits that are making you sick.

There’s a way to reconnect with your true, innate and fundamental self; a self-identity which exists far beyond any social conventions.   Once reconnected, you’ll have broken free from the system that’s suppressing you and leaving you desensitised and numb. You’ll gain a newfound clarity of mind, and an unshakeable inner drive complete with a beautiful stillness of spirit.

Put simply, you’ll rediscover the healthy, happy and strong individual you were designed to be. I call it The Primal Effect.

Six Primal Pillars

The Primal Effect is an experience. It’s not something that can be articulated very effectively with words, however, the beauty of it is in the fact that the ability to reach the experience lies within each one of us. It’s deeply intrinsic to our human nature. So in that sense, it’s nothing other than a journey of Self-Discovery; and one that’s available to us all.

The process that’s been developed to make up The Primal Effect is that of Six Primal Pillars: Movement, Nature, Nutrition, Meditation, Breathing and Adversity. And through the daily integration of these Six Primal Pillars, you can finally reconnect with your Primal Identity, your quintessential, primary self. These pillars were developed by thorough investigation and consideration of every aspect of modern living that serves to take away from our deeply imbedded biological requirements. You’ll notice as we delve deeper into each pillar that there is quite a bit of overlapping in each of their principles. This is not a coincidence nor an accident, each pillar has been designed to weave and integrate harmoniously into one another, in order to create one complete and coherent structure. Each Pillar acts to compliment the other, so as to give you the added benefit of momentum as you move from one to the next.  They are as follows:

  • Movement. Over a long period of time we’ve become increasingly sedentary, we sit in our cars on our way to work, we remain seated all day whilst at work, we sit in our cars on the journey home, where we then sit on the sofa each night. Primal living meant remaining mobile every single day. Every aspect of primordial life required movement and exercise, and we must move and exercise as our ancestral counterparts once did.

  • Nature. We’re an incredible species, we’ve built societies, we’ve constructed towns and cities and road networks and everything that makes up the modern world, heck we’ve even put man on the Moon. But all of this means that we spend so much of our time, the greatest percentage of our lives in fact, trapped in the concrete jungle. We’ve become detached from nature. And we don’t just need nature, we ARE nature. We’re an intrinsic part of all that makes up the natural world, the two aren’t separate. So in order to rediscover our true, innate, Primal selves; we must reconnect with nature.

  • Nutrition. We’ve created somewhat of a Frankensteins monster in our society, one which is completely obsessed with fast food and instant gratification. Not only do we no longer need to hunt down our food, but we don’t even need to leave the comfort of our living rooms these days. No, now all we need is a mobile device and our food is delivered to our door. Food is within our reach at all times during the day. This is not how we were designed to consume. We’re not meant to eat at any time we desire, we were built to sustain long periods of time without a source of food, we’re built to fast.

  • Meditation. Modern life is full of distractions, every aspect of our daily living serves to take us far away from the present moment, whether it be via our computers, our phones, our televisions, our newspapers; everything that surrounds us is distracting us from the present moment, right now. Meditation is a way to reconnect with and live in The Now, to be mindful and to appreciate present moment awareness. This is just how the Primal man would’ve lived by default, for he was totally free from distraction.

  • Breathing. Our breath is our power. It remains with us from the moment we’re born till the moment we die. Yet we’re so unaware of the power of the breath. We don’t pay it much attention or give it the significance it deserves as an integral component of our physiology. I want for you to rediscover the innate power that lies within the breath. You won’t believe what happens when you start truly breathing.

  • Adversity. Adversity was to the Primal man as living was to the Primal man. The two were one in the same, with each day being a battle for survival. And this level of adversity brought with it deep purpose, meaning and growth to the life of the Primal Man. In our modern times, we no longer have to fight just to survive. And thank God for that. However, we now find ourselves suffocated by comfort, living in a world of instant gratification and luxury. This level of comfort decays our soul, we become stale, nihilistic and purposeless. It’s imperative that we consciously decide to refute comfort in order to voluntarily accept and embrace adversity back into our lives. We must step away from our desires for comfort and impulses for expedience in order to welcome, with open arms, the adversity we need in order to grow. Remember, the only currency that true growth will accept, is suffering. And if you aren’t growing, you’re dying.
